Let’s start off by saying Lexi is a project. She is a timid dog who needs a patient and caring owner to help her build her confidence. She also needs the company of a playful, confident dog who can help give her reassurance and guidance. When another dog is in the house, Lexi’s true self starts to come out. She enjoys wrestling and playing tag with doggie playmates.
Lexi loves going on walks and hanging out on the sofa. She can be left for periods on her own and will quietly rest on the couch or explore the house.
Lexi is very timid around people. She needs a gentle and supportive owner who won’t rush her and appreciates that Lexi needs to do things in her own time. But it is very rewarding when she does reach out. After 6 months with her foster mom, Lexi wagged her tail!
Before being rescued, Lexi lived on the streets of Mexico surviving on scraps of food thrown to her from a food truck. It is unknown how people treated her to make her so fearful. But no matter how scared she is, she never lashes out or shows the least little bit of aggression.
This sweet girl is estimated to be 2 to 3 years old and weighs about 30 lbs. She is both house-trained and crate-trained. In addition to dogs, she does like cats. She hasn’t been tested with kids, but they will probably be too overwhelming for her.
With patience, guidance, and another dog, Lexis has the potential to become her best self. But it will take time. She is currently being fostered in Newmarket.
