Joey’s rescue story is an amazing one. He was found abandoned on the streets of a small town in Mexico. The poor guy was heavily matted and suffering from mange and parasites. Even worse, he was malnourished and wasn’t much more than skin and bones. After being rescued by one of our partner rescues – Rocco’s Relief Foundation – Joey transformed into a completely different dog. His matting was shaved off and with proper care, Joey gained weight, muscle, energy, confidence, and fur!
Since arriving in Canada mid-February, Joey has been living with a foster caregiver. He is a very sweet boy who loves to play with his foster sibling. He can play a bit rough and vocal when playing, but he is only 25 lbs.
His foster is working on his house training and walking him on leash. With consistency, we know he will improve. Joey seems curious and harmless around cats and hasn’t shown any signs of food or resource guarding.
Joey is estimated to be about 2 years old and has medium energy.
